We are basically talking about (temporarily) loading a few specific dice ourselves to create a fairer outcome, or at least giving the dice a memory and a conscience

Since you're talking here about what Lib Dems mean by fairness, I feel I should say that I don't think any current Lib Dem policies would actually load the dice, even temporarily, and I very rarely hear Lib Dems saying we should do so. I think what Lib Dems generally propose, and what our current policies do, is to try to substitute true dice where loaded ones are currently in play. I think that where that's not possible, in some cases it could also be legitimate to add to a game dice which are specifically weighted to counteract an existing loading, so that the overall set is fair even if the individual dice are not, but I don't think this is what our policies actually do, and I am used to hearing a lot of resistance to it in the party.

I have less trouble with the "memory and conscience" formulation, but that may be because it's less concrete.
