Good post - one thing I would note is that there have been places/times when people didn't believe homosexuality existed, or at least didn't exist within a certain group of people. I'll try to have a look for examples if I get time, but I'm sure I've read statements from leaders of countries saying that there were no gay people in that country, for example.
And of course there have been times when 'homosexuality' as such wasn't perceived as existing because it was an activity rather than an identity.
