Your explanation of fairness and equality is a lot of what things like the Disability Discrimination Act have embodied in bits of it, and indeed what I hope and believe is being extrapolated for other equalities stuff for the equalities bill in Nov 2010 (I haven't yet RTFMed to assimilate and understand that yet).
Your explanation I think makes a lot of sense as I understand it and as a way to explain it to people who might find it hard to understand it.
The bit about dice fairness strikes quite a chord as a dear friend's family seem to be undergoing an unfair 'share' of bad things right now and in total and it is hard not to want to kick the universe right now.
